Are you afraid
of HTML? Do you dread the thought of trying to
learn HTML?
I understand!
Several years ago I looked at some HTML code and it
made about as much sense of Chinese.
Let's close the door! Give me a software program
that builds sites.
But then I
needed to move an image or change a hyperlink.
My tables weren't lining up right and the software
couldn't help. I wanted to add a banner but
the software wouldn't accommodate the customization.
I was stuck!.
I was
frustrated!
Then one day,
my daughter who is not a student, excitedly grabbed
my arm and said "Mom, come look at my website!
It is really cool!"
It was a nice
website. She had learned how to use site
building software and I thought she did a good.
I complimented her and was turning away when she
grabbed my arm again. "Mom, look at this. This
is how I designed the website."
She showed me
the HTML code! My jaw dropped to my knees and
I asked, "Who taught you HTML?"
"I taught
myself," she said and she was grinning ear to
ear.
Now you have to
understand something. When I mentioned she was
not a student, I meant she was barely passing her
subjects! She was failing Algebra and here she
taught herself HTML.
Imagine the
thrill of my daughter! She had learned
something and better yet she taught herself.
On top of that, she knew something her mother
didn't.
Her self esteem
and confidence soared from this day on.
I spent days
scouring the Internet for the best tools and
websites for learning HTML. I taught myself
and then other moms asked if I would teach their
teens how to design websites.
I started
teaching classes to teens and there were always a
few mothers who wanted to learn as well. The
mothers wanted a guide that they could use at home
and so I took my class notes and made an eBook.
I started giving it away free to students and anyone
else who wanted to learn HTML.
Then a funny
thing happened. I started attending
conferences and attendees asked if I could teach
them. Long story short. I started also
teaching classes online using webinars. I made
short videos to cover each section of the class so
students could easily find answers to their
questions.
I merged the
videos with the eBook to make it easier for students
to learn HTML on their own.
I was too
creative and just called it "Seven Easy Steps to
HTML Success, the Video Version."

There is no
need for you to fear HTML!
There is not
need for you to put off moving your business
forward.
